MarocCAN  Scholarship

The MarocCAN Scholarship is awarded to students who are of Moroccan descent and resident of New York or New Jersey. Each year two students will be awarded $500 in scholarships to pursue their College/University education.

Nora Bouayad

I will be attending the New Jersey Institute of Technology as a freshman in the fall InshaAllah. I will be majoring in Mathematical Sciences. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. I want to thank my family and teachers who always pushed me academically and motivated me to be involved in my community. Thank you MAROC!

I am eternally grateful to have received the MarocCan Scholarship. This would have not been possible without the tremendous support and encouragement from my parents. They have always pushed me to be the best version of myself through volunteering and giving back to my community. Again, I am extremely grateful and thank you MAROC!

 

 

Rayan Essafi

I am a current high school senior and will be attending Rutgers New Brunswick as a freshman in the fall InshaAllah. I will be majoring in finance at Rutgers Business. I am so honored to be receiving this award and I thank Allah for this opportunity.

 

Rayan Essafi, 2020 MarocCAN Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Applicants must be graduating Seniors.

  • Applicants must reside in the US and at least one of their parents must be Moroccan.

  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA upon completion of the first semester of their senior year.
  • Applicants must have competitive standardized test scores (SAT or ACT).
  • Applicants should have applied to a college or university and intend to pursue a 4-year program.
 
  • Applicants must have already demonstrated a commitment to community service.

Application Guidelines

Applications to MAROC Award must be submitted before March 31st and must include the following:​

  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher or from a professional reference outside of school. Note that this does not include family members or personal acquaintances. Recommendation letter should be sent to vicechairman@mymaroc.org
  • At least one college or university application
  • A high school transcript detailing academic standing.
  • A standardized test score report (SAT or ACT).
  • A student essay describing their contribution to society in general and to the Moroccan community (in the US or in Morocco) in particular.

The winners will be announced during the month of Ramadan.
